  They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"

  a friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.

  as regards pursuing higher education?

  the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

  Three years ago there was a dramatization at my two day assembly. My cousin ( who has been unemployed the last 3 years ) went up on stage pretending that she was a highschool counselor talking to Jehovah's Witness sister who was thinking of going to college in the fall. This was so bad that I promised myself that this would be my last assembly. This dramatization led me to learn that the WTS calculates everything they do to blind their members. I couldn't believe everyone clapped after watching this deadful attack on education.

  Two sisters who got up and had a dramatization about a sister not wanting to go to College. I will paraphrase as best as I can.

  High School Counselor: ''Have a seat Karen and I will show you all the College applications I have for you.''

  Sister: ''Thank you for all the work you have done.''

  Counselor: '' I have an application from Harvard,one from Michigan University,and a couple from the East Coast.''

  Sister: '' I have done alot of thinking and decided not to go to any College."

  Counselor: ''Karen,you have a 4.0 grade average and scored very high on the A.C.T. and you would have no problem getting into any of these schools."

  Sister: '' As you know,I'm a Jehovah's Witness and we believe that we are near the ''end times.'' I decided that I will go into the preaching work part time and maybe go to a 2 year school."

  Counselor: ''You will probably get into these schools at almost no cost because of your 4.0 average and high A.C.T. scores and have a good career the rest of your life.These are great schools and will prepare you to land a good job.''

  Sister: ''This world is passing by and may not be here any longer. I decided to enter the ministry work and Jehovah God will provide for me in the future."

  Everyone applauded except me. That was really sad to see!

  Prepare for meetings??

  do you prepare for meetings?

  if i go i spend a few minutes underlinging my books/watchtower.. i have noticed that those who do the micks especially notice when your stuff is not underlined, and comments are made after the meeting, not so gentle hints, about study and preperation!

  in other words i am being told off, its usually the ones who are highly critical of everything i do, sometimes their whole family seems to be straining to see if my stuff is underlined, i know this because i heard the daughter to family wisper her watchtower is not underlined!.

  I never read or underlined the Watchtower magazine at home. It was too boring to read it twice. It got so bad in the last couple of years that I would read the NEW YORKER magazine instead. The main article of the NEW YORKER would take up most of the hour.

  Here is what happened one time with two young kids around 6 and 4 years old who were sitting in front of me. They would always turn around to see what I was doing. I would make faces to make them laugh.

  6 year looks back: '' What are you reading ? '' ( I was reading the NEW YORKER magazine with the Watchtower magazine on the side so it looked like I was reading it )

  Me: '' The Watchtower ''

  6 year old : " No you're not. That's not the Watchtower magzine"

  Me : " Yes it is '' I quickly put the Watchtower magazine over the New Yorker and show him.

  6 year old : Taps his mom and tells her " He's not reading the Watchtower. " The mom doesn't pay attention to him.

  When was your last Elder, Circuit Overseer, or District Overseer home visit ?

  two years ago an elder from my old congregation and a new circuit overseer paid me a visit as to why i haven't been to any meetings in some time.. while eating breakfast with my family, the door bell rings around 10:00 a.m. i open the door and find my old congregation elder and the new circuit overseer .

  i tell them that this is not a good time to talk and if they can call me on the phone next time they pay me a visit.

  ( i guess they figure if they call on the phone you won't pick it up but you will answer the door when you're not expecting them ).

  How are you? Hope you are doing well!

  Those were funny! I like the Overseer with the heavy book bag leaning and walking sideways. What's in those bags that weigh as much as concrete?

  I also like about the Overseer's wife who is so self-righteous that she speaks to no one. Everything and everyone bother her except her kids who are living a double life.

  Yes! These are the same Elders who have talks on how members take way too many bathroom breaks but somehow they get up more than others and talk in the lobby or library.

  This was me driving into the parking lot and into the Kingdom Hall:

  Every week the same brothers and sisters are late getting to the meeting. Elders are talking with other Elders ( who always have notes and folders in their hands). "Brother Kiss Ass " is always around the Elders hoping he'll get more privilages. Shy Brother is sitting down until meeting starts and leaves as soon as meeting ends.

  The sisters have way too much perfume and makeup on. Their long dresses make them look Amish. "Brother $2000 suit" and "Brother $200 off the rack suit" both are talking to beautiful sisters (who in the real world would never have a chance but here will marry with no problem).

  The sound guy never has the right mix ( too loud or not loud enough ) and sometimes plays the wrong song. Everyone stares at him and laughs.

  Everyone takes their seats except a few and have to be reminded again. ( They talk like they haven't seen each other in years).

  The opening song is awful and the singing is dreadful. Sister (Opera Singer) always sings the loudest and oversings and wish she would stop soon.

  The opening prayer is short as usual by ( Brother Up and Coming). Please bless the Elders is always mentioned.

  The 30 minute talk is boring as usual and has been done before 100 times. Everyone claps and as usual the smart ass teen always claps the longest so he and his friends can laugh.

  The Watchtower meeting is about the Faithful and Discreet Slave and how they dispense Spiritual Food. Little kids comment ! How cute!

  The meeting finally ends!

  Besides taking away privilages what would a JC do to discipline inactive members? After 30 years in, I've never seen a JC in my congregation discipline inactive members. I've been left alone the last two years.

  Last night at my brother's house ( he's an Elder ) I listened in on a conversation he was having with another Elder about my old congregation ( which I haven't attended in 2 years and have been left alone). Our congregation had at one time 86 members.

  They talked about:

  * how the congregation went from 86 members to 26

  * members are moving to Florida and not leaving any information

  * Elder and wife showing up in service and not one person shows up

  * members cancelling Ministerial School talks the last minute

  * members not traveling to summer conventions that are too far and costly

  * a sister had to read the Watchtower because there wasn't one brother that was qualified to read

  ( IS THAT POSSIBLE THAT THEY WOULD LET A SISTER READ ...AND DID THE SISTER READ FROM THE PODIUM OR READ IT IN HER SEAT ? )

  * members working more and missing meetings

  * members giving up the race in the last few feet because they are looking at the wordly things and not in spiritual things.....the race is so close and they can't believe that members can't complete it

  New Article on BEARDS and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses

  i have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.

  it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.

  i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.

  The Society believes that as preachers salesman they are representing Jehovah the WTBTS by preaching selling literature about his coming kingdom.

  Jehovah's Witnesses are known for being in the publics eye. Having men in suits and woman in dresses makes it appear that they are honest people. They appear to represent Jehovah the WTBTS as best as they can. So, they appear clean cut and well kept when being out in public. A beard would not represent the WTBTS. It would show '' brazen conduct ''.

  In the 35 years as a Witness, I never saw a beard in my congregation. Sideburns were to be trimmed after a certain length, hair that was hanging on your shirt collar was to be trimmed. If you would not abide by these rules you couldn't give a talk. Colored shits and wild ties were frowned upon.

  It's a stupid rule by stupid old men in New York. True preachers saleman is what they are.
